Thomas Ekeli is a seasoned economist offering independent macroeconomic consultancy services.

His advice builds on an extensive experience of macroeconomic policy formulation, resource revenue management, SWF-management and climate-related issues, as well as deep financial market insights and proficiency in investment management.

His current role as an economic consultant includes advisory support to Norad on resource revenue management and the IMF on climate-aware infrastructure governance practices, as well as participation in and management of the secretariats of government-appointed commissions and expert groups (on climate policy, climate risks, geopolitical risks and other long-term perspectives for Norway and its SWF). He was previously Chief Economist at Folketrygdfondet (the manager of the Government Pension Fund Norway). He has spent many years with the Norwegian Ministry of Finance as investment director in the Asset Management Department and deputy director general in the Economic Policy Department. He has also served as economic councellor in the Norwegian Delegation to the OECD in Paris, portfolio manager for Norges Bank Investment Management in London, IMF petroleum fund advisor in Timor-Leste, chief economist for Pareto Securities in Oslo and international economist for Lehman Brothers in London. He graduated as an economist from the University of Oslo in 1992.
